BJP to woo youth through job fairs, offer letters in MP  1 Week ago

BHOPAL: In a bid to reach out to the young electorates ahead of assembly elections this year-end, BJP is all set to sign one lakh letters of intent (LoIs) and offer letters to provide a livelihood to the unemployed youths. The bjp-led state government has instructed all the district collectors to execute the plan.

"We have set a target to generate one lakh jobs by July this year and another one lakh on the coming couple of months to help unemployed youth earn livelihood and become self-dependent through self-employment", said minister of state (MoS) for skill development and employment Deepak Joshi.

He said the government has plans to organise panchayats and conventions in each district on skill development and employment. The conventions will be held from July to connect the youth with self-employment and unemployed with jobs, he said.

A meeting chaired by chief secretary Basant Pratap Singh to assess the work in the district also decided to invite private companies from other states and abroad to help generate employment and entrepreneurship. Recently, the state government has also involved private companies through PPP (public private partnership) mode to generate jobs and assist youth in earning their livelihood. the company has agreed to organise employment fairs in 15 districts, initially.

"The job fairs will be organised in the grounds of colleges and higher secondary schools. Government has also roped in experts from various fields for the career counselling of the students", said officials of the skill development department.

Sources said to publicise the move, government has also asked local BJP leaders to assist the officials and representatives in helping the youth. After getting an opportunity, the public representative will handover the offer letter or LoI to the youth in the employment fair, sources added.

"The main objective behind this exercise is to motivate youth in favour of the party and also that local youth should recognise their MLAs and other representatives before elections. Since the party is facing a big challenge on the issue of generating employment in the state, this would be a great idea to give respite to the local MLA against attack by the opposition parties on the failure of job creation in last 15 years", disclosed a senior state functionary of BJP.
